The Christmas celebrations at Gunwharf have started. The lights are on and there is a beautiful Christmas tree in the front courtyard. The Christmas Village, above, opened last Saturday and promises to better than ever before. There are rides on the 15m-high Observation Wheel which twinkles with 10,000 LED lights. As you walk around the market stalls, you can enjoy festive treats like handmade fudge and churros drizzled in chocolate, or you can grab a bratwurst fresh from the grill! There is also a Pompey FC store at Gunwharf, and the footballers have been making appearances. In downtown Portsmouth three days of events are planned to include Christmas Lights Switch-On Parties, Christmas Carols, and the We Shine Art and Light Show from 21 to 23 November. There will be light art installations by local and national artists. Read more: We Shine Portsmouth

The Southsea Christmas Lights Switch on Party is on Thursday 21 November. This will be hosted by Mark Collins of Greatest Hits Radio. Portsmouth FC manager John Mousinho, and stars from the New Theatre Royal’s Beauty and the Beast, will be there. Read more.
