Sustainability at Royal Maritime Hotel
At the Royal Maritime Hotel, we are committed to running a sustainable business that reduces our carbon footprint and one that positively impacts our environment and community. We use creativity and innovation to generate ideas that drive change and ideas for a better world. We recycle paper & glass and our cardboard is crushed. Our Chef works to reduce food waste through carefully measured and realistic portion sizes. We prepare our food from fresh seasonal ingredients by supporting local farmers such as Bransbury Park Butchers, Clarks Dairy in Bishops Waltham, and the Fruit Basket in Gosport. We believe that food should be sustainable as well as delicious.
Like most hotels, we have energy-reducing sensors in our rooms and corridors that ensure the lights go out when people are not around. Our guest rooms are designed with several windows or very large windows to facilitate the use of natural light. We are committed to running a paperless business to reduce waste by using the digital resources that we have available to us. The majority of our brochures and promotional materials are now prepared in digital format and can be downloaded online. Our guest services directory in our guest rooms is digital as well as our guest services and information centre adverts which are streamed via a large-screen TV in the reception area.
Our core values revolve around our community engagement and charity work. The Royal Maritime Hotel has continued its legacy of support to the Royal Navy. Although it is now a thriving hotel and conference venue, open to everyone, all profits go towards meeting the needs of armed forces veterans whose beneficiaries are serving and former seafarers, including members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and Merchant Fleet. By booking a stay, hosting your next meeting, or dining at the hotel, you are supporting much-needed charitable projects. We are also partners with local schools and colleges providing projects and advising on curriculum development to ensure the next generation of hospitality professionals are excited about and ready for the job.
