No wedding is complete without a grand reception, so celebrate with all your friends in the wonderful event rooms here at the Royal Maritime Hotel in Portsmouth. You can choose between two elegant rooms to make sure you get a day to remember.

Your wedding reception will be individually tailored for your needs and tastes. Our professional staff are here for you at every stage, ready with advice and suggestions, so that you are free to enjoy your big day without worrying about a thing.

Licensed marriage venue

Many people nowadays prefer to get married in a non-religious setting, but a registry office can seem cold and uninviting. Our event rooms are a perfect alternative, grand and warm, and are available for both marriage and civil partnership ceremonies. Many a happy couple have tied the knot under our roof.

Picking a room

Wedding receptions can be held in two of our event rooms. The larger Trafalgar Ballroom can cater for up to 400 people and has full banqueting facilities, as well a large bar formerly the 'Brocks Bar' but now called 'Bar 1805' after recent renovations, and another bottle bar. The smaller Nelson Lounge is perfect for more intimate family weddings, hosting up to 100 guests.


A special wedding night

Choose from one of our two bridal suites. They each have different characteristics, so you can choose in advance and decide which one will give you the most magical wedding night. We'll also invite you back for your first anniversary for a complimentary stay with us.


Your guests can also choose to stay over in the hotel with 90 ensuite rooms to choose from.


Breakfast the next day can be taken in the restaurant or in our private dining room.
